Denise Pheils, PhD started teaching for Excelsior College’s School of Business & Technology in Spring II term of 2012 in the area of cybersecurity and information technology at both the undergraduate and graduate degree levels. Dr. Pheils earned a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Bowling Green State University, an MBA in Information Systems Management from University of Toledo, and a Doctorate in Education (Online Teaching & Training) from Capella University. Pheils is CISSP and PMP certified and has 19 other relevant professional certifications. She is currently assistant professor at Texas A&M University in Commerce.
After starting with Excelsior as instructional faculty, Pheils went on to assist with course and program reviews and recently became a member of SBT’s Faculty Advisory Committee in cybersecurity. Additionally, she assisted the School of Business & Technology in receiving prestigious designations from the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security. Through her teamwork and guidance,
Excelsior College has been designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE), which extends through 2019.
Pheils is a National Cybersecurity Institute (NCI) fellow, and the associate editor for the NCI Journal. When asked how and why she became so involved with Excelsior College, Pheils said “I believe in Excelsior’s programs and enjoy working with the students.”
