The School of Business & Technology has added Nucleonica, a nuclear science web portal that provides an online resource for nuclear sciences. For student and instructor use in the Nuclear Engineering Technology program, it is being utilized in NUC 210 Health Physics and Radiation Protection, NUC 211 Radiation Measurement Lab, and NUC 330 Reactor Core Fundamentals.
Nucleonica is used for the education and training of nuclear technicians and suitable for degree programs in nuclear engineering technology. It is web-based and provides applications for decay calculations, dosimetry and shielding, periodic table, etc.
Nucleonica provides an opportunity for instructors and students to fully understand the concepts associated with radionuclides. Courses in the nuclear engineering technology program that require an understanding of radionuclides will benefit from the programs on the Nucleonica website. Student exercises and assignments for NUC 210, NUC 211, and NUC 330 are being developed that will enhance the students learning experience and knowledge. The Nucleonica programs provide detailed graphs, charts, and information can be exported to PDF or Excel formats.
The Nucleonica website also provides forums where questions can be asked and information exchanged with an international community of nuclear engineers, scientists, educators, and technicians.
