Student’s Get Excelsior Email Addresses

Hello Everyone,

We are excited to announce that the rollout of new Excelsior Microsoft student email accounts for active students will begin later today, starting with the first wave of students from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS).  Also, please note the we’ve already started providing email accounts to newly admitted students.

As students begin receiving and accessing their new @excelsior.edu Microsoft 365 accounts, we expect an increase in questions related to account setup, login, and Microsoft application access. We ask that all staff be prepared to assist students with basic troubleshooting and direct them to the appropriate support resources when needed.

We’ve created a Technical Support Help link with FAQs

https://www.excelsior.edu/support-resources/technical-support-help

The following are the common questions and issues addressed in the link

  • How to download and install  Microsoft 365 using your Excelsior University account
  • How to use Self-Service Password Rest (SSPR) with Microsoft Outlook
  • How to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Outlook/Microsoft 365 for the first time
  • Accessing Microsoft 365 Apps on the web
  • How to access Outlook on the web
  • How to add an additional authentication method to your Microsoft 365 account

Please direct students to the support page for setup instructions and technical assistance information.

What Staff Should Do

  • Encourage students to carefully follow the instructions included in their email communications.
  • Remind students to complete MFA enrollment during their first sign-in.
  • Refer students to the Technical Support Help page above for step-by-step guidance.
  • Escalate issues that cannot be resolved through basic troubleshooting to the IT Service Desk following normal support procedures.

This rollout represents an important milestone in improving the student experience and expanding access to Microsoft 365 services. Additional student populations will be onboarded in phases following the CNHS rollout.

Thank you for your support and partnership as we begin this initiative.

Best regards,

Eduardo Narvaez
