In recognition of National Native American Heritage Month, Excelsior University’s Center for Social Justice, Race & Ethnicity Rope Team, and Religion & Spirituality Rope Team are partnering with Fielding Graduate University and colleagues connected to the Navajo Nation for a special two-hour moderated panel exploring Indigenous education, tribal sovereignty, and higher education.
The panel will feature Dr. Miranda Haskie, a faculty leader associated with Fielding Graduate University’s Navajo cohort program, and Dr. Chance White Eyes, director of tribal relations for the State of Oregon. Dr. Philipp Kneis, a faculty member at Fielding Graduate University and Oregon State University, will moderate the discussion.
Panelists will explore how Indigenous doctoral education can support tribal sovereignty, the importance of government-to-government relationships between universities and Tribal Nations, challenges facing Native doctoral students, and Indigenous data sovereignty. The event will also include a live audience question-and-answer session.
Join us Thursday, November 12, from 2–4 p.m. ET online to honor National Native American Heritage Month through learning, reflection, and dialogue.
